SOPHIE PENTECOST - SOPRANO

Thank you for visiting my site.
I am aiming to provide a service for people who want to hire a bright and youthful voice to make a special occasion a memorable one.
MY HISTORY:
I started singing "seriously" aged 13, when I successfully auditioned for entry into the newly formed Winchester Cathedral Girls Choir in 1998. In 2001 I became Deputy Head Chorister and left in 2002 to go to Sherborne School for Girls to study Music and Drama. Whilst at Sherborne I was privileged to perform "Jaucet Gott In Allen Launden" Cantata 51 by Bach with the renowned trumpeter Crispian Steele-Perkins in Sherborne Abbey. Also in Sherborne Abbey I performed Vivaldi's "Nulla in Mundo Pax Sincera" with full orchestra and Mozart's "Exultate Jubilate" and the "Alleluia" at the end of year concert. In October 2005 I was privileged to have the chance to sing and have tuition from Sopranoist (and my Classical idol) Emma Kirkby, she kindly helped me with "I Follow In Gladness" from Bach's "St John's Passion" and I walked away with even more determination to push myself and go far!
In the Summer 2004 I was invited to sing "Ave Maria" by Schubert at a wedding at Ringwood Parish Church in Hampshire and enjoyed every moment of it, and ever since the weddings I have been asked to sing for have all been a great pleasure. In January 2005 I was thrilled to be invited to sing with other soloists for the Winchester City Festival Choir's annual concert in Winchester. I joined the alto and soprano soloists to sing "Suscepit Israel" from Bach's Magnificat in D. In October 2005 I sung for a wedding and an hours programme for the reception afterwards in Brighton.
Having gained A levels in Music and Drama I have just completed and graduated my 3 year Bachelors degree at the University of Chichester studying Music Performance and Vocal Teaching, and am now well into my 4th year there as I decided to do a Masters degree in Music Performance. For the summer I was privilaged to be accepted onto the Guildhall school of Music and Drama's Musical Theatre summer course for 3 weeks in July which I loved! I also flew out to Leipzig at the end of June with the University of Chichester Chamber Choir to sing for various concerts out there which was a brilliant experience. This summer (2008) we are flying out to Poland for my last ever Chamber choir tour and I am also singing for a few weddings. I am enjoying my degree enormously and I would love the opportunity to widen my repertoire and experience by taking opportunities to sing at weddings, concerts, fetes, birthdays, parties etc. I hope (after I have gained my Masters degree)! to go onto one of the conservatoires or music colleges like Trinity Music College or The Birmingham Conservatoire of Music to take a postgraduate course and make singing my profession.
Not surprisingly, my ambition is to become a professional singer!
